The Modern Australian Walkabout

A contemporary Australian walkabout is an immersive Aboriginal cultural experience for travelers. with Craigmuir Lake House host Avalon as your guide, visitors learn the traditional customs and practices that kept the Aboriginal communities alive in the wild.

The Walk

Slink through Yorta Yorta country where lessons about natural foods and medicines await.

Visitors receive instruction in fire starting and yabby catching, along with an opportunity to tell their own story on the canvas of making a Traditional Damper. Additionally, they are introduced to Bush tucker, allowing visitors to sample this native Australian treat. While once a rite of passage for only men.

Craigmuir Lake House works collaboratively with a traditional custodian in this region the Yorta Yorta people on Kanny Goopna country and Lotjpatj Natjan Danak Reserve.

Your hosts are trained in Bush Medicine connecting you, your family, friends, and work colleagues to local food and medicine plants found in the bush all over Australia.

Workshops and talks are available at your office, lecture hall, center, or school providing

- 1-2 hour walks, talks, and foraging workshops are typically

   Priced at $120 per person.

- Group sizes are a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30.

- Groups smaller (than 10) or larger (than 30) can be negotiated by request.

Personalised Tours

We only offer personalised tours to guests staying with us, we operate each tour with a minimum of 2 passengers and a maximum of 4 passengers.

Bigger groups will need to organise their own bus.
